On Thursday, December 8, Project Lighthouse partnered with the Georgetown Chapter of the APO Service Fraternity to equip members with core peer support skills before they embark on service at St. Elizabeth's. We had a great time working with the APO members as we explored topics ranging from active listening skills to stopping the stigma cycle in our day-to-day lives.
This event was a historic one for our humble Project Lighthouse: GU chapter. It was our first external facilitation! With the positive feedback from this, we hope to hold many more.
Project Lighthouse has come in from the cold! Yesterday night, the Student Activities Commission voted to welcome Project Lighthouse as a recognized student organization on Georgetown's campus!
What does this mean? It means that we enjoy both the privileges and responsibilities of being closer to the administration than our previous unrecognized student org status. The university will be covering our operating costs, and we get to have a closer relationship with university officials as we work to make sure that PL holds itself to the highest possible standard.
